Cooking is fun - for yourself, for your loved one and for friends. Cooking from scratch, with fresh ingredients and the smell of fresh parsley, garlic, basil or even potatoes...is to die for! However, it is not just all about what you are cooking, but also what you use for cooking. If you want to find the perfect cooking method, give induction stoves a try. They are ideal for the whole family with their functionality and style ranges.
First, let us talk about money and the induction stove price. Having visited a few appliance stores, in the past two years, to compare prices, I found that the regular cooktops, whether electric or gas, were approximately 0.00 or below. In contrast, the induction alternative was 00.00 (open box item) and it was of a known brand, originally it was 00.00 brand new. This can be intimidating at the beginning.

However, just one year ago I found a full size cooktop at the store for 00. So we are talking of a $ 500.00 drop in price for the induction set (more if you are lucky or shop at the outlet store like appliance smart) as compared to the conventional cooktops. But even better news yet, is that, as of the last two weeks, the induction stove price has gone down to just under 00.00, 9.00 to be precise!
But back to cooking, though. So in my case, when I started using a single 'burner' induction stove unit, I could see my electricity bill drop by about .00 a month in summer (there were some advanced techniques with programmable thermostat involved as well). Meaning, it takes 5 years to break even not including the winter months when extra heat is needed. Of course there is also the added comforts of electricity involved, like running your computer or watching the television, which are difficult to price in and the price of electricity varies as well.
The unit I bought was one of the cheap ones for 0.00 for starters, just to test it first and see if induction stoves are really worth all the hype. It does work, but the plastic cover has cracked and some of the food particles have managed to get inside messing up the power button but we managed to fix it. Well, if you are not into tinkering with anything, it is not a good deal. I have to say that, I am still pleased with the experience though and I would buy it again - but, that is me.
Then there are full range induction stoves with four induction heating zones. These are the ones whose prices I have compared above to regular four burner cooktops.
The cooking zones have a coil that generates an electromagnetic field which produces the heat needed for cooking. The heat is first produced when you place a magnetic pot or pan on it. Note that, only induction cooking cookware will work on these stoves. That means the pots and pans have to have a magnetic base. To test if your cookware is safe for use on an induction stove, use a magnet to see if it will stick to the bottom of the pot or pan.
Why Induction Cooking?
Induction stoves bring food to the boil quickly as compared to the conventional cooktops. They have a rapid and precise reaction when regulating the temperature. They save energy and help the environment.
